I just had one of the most unreal weekends of my life–beautiful in every way.Friday: took a 6pm train to New York, got there at 9:30 and proceeded to take shots and do various other things with my favorite people in the world. Sophie's apartment turned into a party of mostly people I didn't know (NYU children), but that was okay with me because my bestest friends were there. The night ended in nakedness and sillyness and me passing out on Sophie's broken bed.
Saturday: pizza greeted me in the morning. We made our way over to St. Mark's Market for more breakfast, and then proceeded to the RISD vs. Cooper Union basketball game. RISD lost unfortunately, but it was still exciting.
There I met up with my friends from school and found out that the MOTHA FUCKING DEATH SET AND JAPANTHER WERE PLAYING THAT NIGHT! All the info we had was and address (929 Broadway), so we set off to find it. At first we went to 929 Broadway in Manhattan, but it was just some rich fuck's apartment. We realized how stupid we were... of course it would be in Brooklyn.
Finally we got to the place it was supposed to be... but all that was there was a boarded up Party Expo. But wait! The door opened up into a gigantic 4 level show house! !! ! !! These people just bought it and are in the process of renovating.
We were there a couple hours early, and so had to find things to entertain us for a while. The logical solution, of course, was to go across the street to a ghetto ass barber shop and get a diamond shaved into the back of Maija's head. Duh. The result was kind of a square, but that's okay because it's all about the experience.. ha.
After some time passed, we went back to Party Expo and waited inside. We made a friend! And drew trees on the floor with him!
Then it started. 19 bands played, ending in Japanther and The Death Set at 6 in the morning. Throughout the night I downed 2 40s (all by myself!), got knocked over, got proposed to, accumulated 21864839 bruises, almost got glass in my foot, destroyed my coat, talked to Matt Reilly from Japanther, ate 6-in-the-morning-cheese-fries, and had the most wonderful of times.
Sunday: got up at 12, got coffee, made my way Pratt to catch the bus with the RISD Balls. Almost missed it! Almost got kicked out because no seats! Maija thought she ruptured her spleen the night before. Almost disastrous!
So, there you go. Best weekend.
